Irish playwright Sean O'Casey's memoirs served as the basis of this sprawling tale starring Rod Taylor as the Dublin day laborer who divided his evenings between brawling, the ladies, fomenting revolt against the British, and putting it all to paper─laying the ground for a remarkable literary career. Julie Christie, Maggie Smith, Michael Redgrave, Edith Evans, Flora Robson co-star; directed by Jack Cardiff (and in small part to an uncredited John Ford). 110 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
